    Sandra Mak

    Sandra Mak is a leading professional in public affairs and crisis management, corporate communication, branding & management consulting in Hong Kong.  A seasoned professional held in high regard in the field, she possesses 40 years of experience in both the public and private sectors.

    Sandra was Head of Group Corporate Relations with CLP Holdings Ltd, one of the largest utilities publicly listed in Hong Kong, until July 2001, helping initiate and manage the corporate repositioning of the company to be the service provider of choice. 

    Sandra joined CLP in September 1994. In 2000, she was the first female executive to have been nominated to the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School. When she left CLP, Sandra was also board director of a number of subsidiaries, including but not limited to CLP Research Institute, CLP TeleCom and CLP Enterprises.

    Before her career with CLP, Sandra worked 13 years at the ICAC, finishing in 1994 as Chief Staff Officer in the Community Relations Department, after many years as its Regional Officer working closely in the local communities. 

    In early 2017, in her personal capacity, Sandra joined Mrs. Carrie Lam’s election campaign for the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as Head of PR, Media & Publicity.  

    Sandra is active in professional/community service: She is an advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation, Member of the Promotion Committee of the Hong Kong Chronicles Institute Limited and was President of the HK Women Professionals & Entrepreneurs Association (2014-2018) as well as Co-chair of its Sustainability C’ttee (since 2014), member of the Open University (renamed Hong Kong Metropolitan University in 2021) Council (2011-2017) and Court (since 2019), member of Advisory Committee, School of Communication of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (since 2022) and the Council for Sustainable Development (2016-2020). She is Founding Strategic Communication Advisor of the Greater Bay Area Carbon Neutrality Association and Hon. Advisor of the HK Association of Customer Service Excellence. She served on the Professional Services Advisory Committee, HK Trade Development Council from 2005 to 2010.

    On the charity front, Sandra is Hon Advisor of the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation, member of the Fund Raising & Communication Committee of the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden and member of the Benefactors Fund Allocation Committee, Corporate Affairs Committee, as well as co-opted member of the Personnel & Finance Sub-Committee of the Hong Kong Family Welfare Association. Sandra also co-chaired the Benefit Committee 2007 & 2008 for Habitat for Humanity China. From 2008 to 2014, she was Trustee of the UK-based international charity Partnership for Children. Currently, she is its advisor.  

    Sandra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Hons) in English Studies and English/Chinese Translation from the University of Hong Kong. She became an Accredited Mediator in 2011 and is a member of the Hong Kong Mediation Centre.
