Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) was honoured to invite Dr Jim Thompson, Chairman and Founder of the Crown Worldwide Group of Companies, Chairman of the Asian Youth Orchestra, and Honorary President of the Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care, as the keynote speaker of the new event in the “Our Hong Kong Stories” series on 26 July, entitled “Hong Kong – Bouncing Back Yet Again”.
Dr Jim Thompson always considers himself a true Hong-Konger, having lived and worked in Hong Kong since the 1960s. He shared with the audience his amazing personal journey from building his global business empire with only USD 1,000, to the immense business opportunities in Hong Kong, coupled with its diverse and inclusive society. He believed that Hong Kong would always be able to overcome ant challenges it faced and make a strong comeback.
He thanked and reaffirmed the significant role of OHKF hosting this talk series. He highlighted that the event facilitated valuable face-to-face discussions between different sectors and stakeholders, reinforcing Hong Kong's position as an international city that attracts global capital and talent, with promising markets in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
OHKF was also delighted to welcome Bosco Law, Advisor of OHKF, Deputy Chairman and CEO of LAWSGROUP, Chairman of Textile Council of Hong Kong, who delivered the opening remarks.
OHKF was also pleased to have Nury Vittachi, Editor of fridayeveryday.com, as the host of the dialogue session with Dr Jim Thompson.
The event achieved a record-breaking full-house attendance of close to 200 international and local guests from all walks of life, with highly interactive exchanges taking place not only during the dialogue session, but also before and after the event.
