Our Hong Kong Foundation (“Foundation”) is a non-government, non-profit organisation founded in November 2014 by Mr Tung Chee-hwa, former Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The Public Policy Institute picks the brains of Hong Kong’s top talents, taps the insight of the academia, and pools the expertise of the public sector to contribute policy ideas as a think tank covering a full range of areas including land and housing, economic development, innovation and technology, arts and culture, healthcare, youth, and education. Through mainstream media and social media as well as online and offline platforms, the Institute presents its research findings and promotes its policy ideas to key stakeholders and the general public.
The Academy of Chinese Studies promotes traditional Chinese culture and tells the stories of China today. Through innovative means, rich contents, and multiple perspectives, the Academy parades the glittering culture of the traditional China, presents the great rejuvenation of modern China, and probes the opportunities for the future of China in an age of tectonic changes. Rooted in Hong Kong with a global outlook, the Academy aims to foster the national identity of the younger generations in Hong Kong so that they know the past and connect it with the present to conquer the future. The Academy helps the world hear what China says, see how it grows, and understand what it aspires.
Hong Kong Chronicles Institute was established by Our Hong Kong Foundation in August 2019. The Institute brings together community leaders, experts and scholars to undertake the historic mission of compiling the first-ever Hong Kong Chronicles. As a Chinese tradition that has been in place for 2,000 years, Hong Kong Chronicles provide a comprehensive, systematic and objective record of local history and development. In keeping with the tradition of preserving history, providing reference for policymaking and educating the people, it is a cultural treasure for Hong Kong and our nation by tracing, transcribing and passing down local history and heritage. The first round of the project is scheduled for completion by 2027.

Mr TUNG Chee-hwa, former Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, has founded OHKF. He has invited Ms Eva CHENG to serve as OHKF's President, jointly making new contributions to the prosperity, stability, and sustainable development of Hong Kong.
OHKF invited Jack MA, Chairman of Alibaba Group, to Hong Kong for a special event, entitled "An Evening with Jack Ma". The event took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and aimed to promote the entrepreneurial spirit among young people. The forum received an unprecedented response, attracting nearly 7,000 young participants.
This was the first time that OHKF had launched a research report, which studied Hong Kong’s current situation and future development. Entitled “Maximizing Land Use to Boost Development; Optimizing Housing Resources to Benefit All”, the report made recommendations based on in-depth research into Hong Kong’s land and housing policies.
The OHKF presents the "China Masters Series" - a series of high-level forums featuring mainland's renowned officials and experts to explore mainland China's latest policies, current affairs and contemporary military strategies, and to share the historical Chinese culture and heritage.
The first InnoTech Expo, themed "Innovation Drives Growth, Technology Shapes Future", was held in 2016. Since inception, 4 editions (2016-2018, 2022) have been organised.
“China Masters Series”, entitled “Mo Yan’s Hallucinations and Opportunities for Chinese Literature” invited MO Yan, Winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature, as the guest speaker to discuss about Hong Kong literature and share his views on literature, writting experience, and writing skill.
Organised the first "Business for Social Good Outstanding Award" to recognise corporations in Hong Kong for their business strategies in creating shared value.
The Academy of Chinese Studies became our operation unit, which dedicated to promote Chinese culture and foster a more comprehensive understanding of China with people in Hong Kong and around the world.

In 2020,the Insight Forum Series was launched. This series aims at inviting eminent local and overseas experts and scholars to share their inspirational and morally uplifting insights on pressing societal issues for Hong Kong people during difficult times.

Hong Kong Chronicles Institute has marked the official debut of Hong Kong’s first-ever series of local chronicles with the release of the first book titled Overview & Chronology in a virtual press conference and a “Book-on-Shelf” ceremony on December 28, 2020.

The Education Bureau and ACS co-organised "Take a Spark, Pass it on: The First Territory-wide Primary Schools Quiz Competition on Chinese History and Culture"
To help Hong Kong people understand the miraculous development in China, the OHKF title-sponsered a 160-episode TV info-segment series, with 90 seconds per episode. It showcased the stunning achievements and the oppurtunities at a time of mega changes in China.
The first volume of the English edition of Hong Kong Chronicles was launched.
Our Hong Kong Foundation International Forum on Progress Through Collaboration featuring 18 prominent speakers from foreign affairs, government, business and culture, was successfully held. The forum explored Hong Kong’s new opportunities and new future as an international financial centre and East-meets-West cultural hub against the backdrop of mainland China’s long-range national development goals.
The Economic Forum, entitled "Financing Land Creation for Hong Kong’s Future", was successfully oganised, inviting eminent speakers, including top officials, industry experts, economists, professors and business leaders.
The “Our Hong Kong Stories” Series was launched. This series aims at featuring international speakers based in Hong Kong who share their own stories about the city.
Hong Kong Chronicles Institute (HKCI) has marked the debut of Hong Kong Chronicles: Nature in a ceremony in conjunction with a Forum on Environment & Ecology. The new book series on nature provides an all-round introduction to Hong Kong’s ecological history and its lineage with the Mainland for a greater understanding of its origin and people.
OHKF held the “Green InnoForum-Spearheading Hong Kong as a Green Technology Hub Challenges & Opportunities”, gathered 7 leaders ranging from energy, construction, electric vehicles, family office to talent development industries, aimed to explore how Hong Kong could help achieve carbon neutrality, promote cross-sector collaboration, and sustainability development in the Mainland and Hong Kong, through innovative technologies, industry upscaling and policy support.
OHKF announced that the Our China Story website is rolling out its English-language platform to make the content accessible to English-language readers around the world. The platform offers readers multi-dimensional views of China's development and the latest situation.
The event focuses on three key areas: (i) developing industry data, (ii) encouraging public and private funding, and (iii) nurturing industry talent. Together with earlier recommendations on active event bidding and planning, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting sportainment, the report puts forward a total of 22 policy recommendations across six areas.
The “Jockey Club ‘Exploring Chinese Culture’ Ambassador Programme” is a three-year initiative launched to promote a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.
The approximately 900 guests who participated in the celebration reviewed the foundation's achievements over the past decade and jointly launched a new journey for the next ten years.
To better understand the current development of the GBA as well as the unique positioning and potential of each city, Our Hong Kong Foundation and Dah Sing Bank jointly present the Greater Bay Area Industry Development Index 2024 (the Index). Starting from 2024, the Index will annually track the performance of the 11 cities across 6 key industries, providing policymakers, businesses, and research institutes with important references through multi-dimensional and scientific assessments.
“The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Forum 2024: Hong Kong’s Role in the New Era” was presented by The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong 90th Anniversary. The signature forum was co-organised by Our Hong Kong Foundation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shenzhen Finance Institute, The Chinese University of Hong Kong Business School, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance. It gathered heavyweight speakers of government officials, C-suite leaders, business strategists, innovation and AI gurus, sustainability experts and academicians to explore the vast opportunities presented by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), with a focus on Hong Kong’s unique strength in bridging China and the global market and fostering cooperation and acceleration of high-quality development across the GBA.
Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) and the Center for China & Globalization (CCG) co-organised the “Rethink Hong Kong Forum: Hong Kong’s New Role as an International City under the New Normal” (the Forum). The Forum deciphers the multifaceted challenges and opportunities that the rapid changes in international arena presented, and explores how Hong Kong as a "super-connector" and "super value-adder" with unique advantages in systems, environments, and talent can achieve breakthroughs and promote continuous exchange and collaboration between the East and the West. The Forum also explores new opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, ASEAN, and Belt and Road countries.
The Hong Kong Coalition, Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) and Hong Kong Cyberport are co-organising the "Hong Kong Youth Entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area Forum" on 6 May. In-depth discussions will be carried out among representatives from government departments, business leaders, representatives from innovation and entrepreneurial bases in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and Hong Kong entrepreneurs who have successfully established their businesses in the GBA, focusing on issues such as entrepreneurial support policies, connectivity of industrial resources, and market development strategies within the area.
Collaborated with Tencent Foundation to initiate the public welfare education project “Putonghua Fun Learning” and organised a cultural exchange camp in the Greater Bay Area to promote enhanced integration.

The panel session was moderated by Mr Aaron Pang, Founder of the Purpose Club, and Penguin Author of “Give me a moment”.

Global Bay Area Economic Forum 2025 hosted by Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF), The Guangzhou Institute of the Greater Bay Area (GIG), and Macao Foundation, draws on advanced experiences and practices from the economic development of major bay areas worldwide. It fully seizes opportunities in Bay Area economic growth, establishes a global dialogue platform for bay areas, leverages their unique advantages, better promotes the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and echos with the national “15th Five-Year Plan.” The forum brings together distinguished guests, with global industry experts and representatives gathering to jointly explore new pathways for high-quality development of Bay Area economies.
Organised by the Palace Museum in partnership with the Academy of Chinese Studies, HELLO! The Palace Museum — School Caravan is exclusively sponsored by the Institute of Philanthropy (IoP). It is one of the key initiatives under the five-year collaboration between IoP and the Palace Museum to promote Chinese culture and develop arts tech talent in the Mainland and Hong Kong.
"Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is rapidly reshaping global economic structures and work patterns. UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) published its 2025 Technology and Innovation Report: Inclusive Artificial Intelligence for Development (the report) this year. Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) was honoured to have participated in the writing of the report. We also funded and were responsible for translating the report into Chinese. The report explores the complex global landscape of AI development, conducts a multidimensional analysis of regional preparedness for AI adoption and development, explains how science, technology, and innovation (STI) policies can help economies at different stages of development capture AI growth dividends, and concludes with a call for global cooperation to establish an international AI governance framework for shared prosperity."
Our Hong Kong Foundation launches a policy research report, titled Setting Sail from Hong Kong:A New Era for Enterprises Going Global.The report proposes a four-stage framework for going global—Connecting with Hong Kong, Establishing in Hong Kong, Developing in Hong Kong, and Expanding via Hong Kong and puts forward 11 concrete policy recommendations addressing service pain points at each stage. The aim is to position Hong Kong as the preferred first stop for Mainland enterprises going global.
Our Hong Kong Foundation hosted the "China Masters Series: May Fourth Movement" lecture on 4 May. Dr. Michael Luk Yan-lung, Honorary Associate Professor of the Department of History and School of Chinese, and Honorary Programme Director, Mainland Affairs Office at The University of Hong Kong, was invited as the keynote speaker to explore the origins and enduring influence of the May Fourth Movement (the movement). The lecture aims to inspire Hong Kong’s youth to cultivate a deeper sense of national perspective and to understand the historical foundations that have shaped China’s modern development; Professor Lau Chi-pang, Chief Editor of the Hong Kong Chronicles Institute, Member of the Legislative Council of HKSAR, and Special Advisor to President on Publicity and Director of Communications and Public Affairs of Lingnan University, joined as a panelist.
