秦漢是中國歷史上大一統時期，漢武帝將嶺南地域重新納入版圖，所以在香港不少地方都發現過漢代的古蹟。1955年有工人在深水埗徙置大廈工程施工期間，無意中發現了一座古墓，這座就是李鄭屋漢墓。

香港這顆東方之珠，其實早在七千年前的新石器時代的中期，已有人類的活動，不過「香港」這名稱在古代典籍上出現，最早要追溯到明代郭棐所編的「粵大記」。
