2008年夏天，北京奧運揭幕，2022年初春北京會連同張家口合辦冬季奧運。從1932年中國唯一奧運代表劉長春，到1984年的奧運第一金，再到2008年北京奧運，中國人用了100年去回答「奧運三問」，中國甚麼時候會參加奧運會?甚麼時候可以贏金牌?和甚麼時候可以舉辦奧運會?

1984年中國科研團隊第一次開展極地考察，中國人第一次探索嚴寒的極地是在1980年，當時已經有10多個國家在南極設立了考察站。
