Professor Herman HU

Prof HU Shao Ming Herman, GBS, JP graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science. He is the Chairman of Ryoden Development Limited, a real estate development, property management and direct investment group in Hong Kong and China.

Over the past three decades, he has been actively committed to the economic development of China and Hong Kong through a wide range of industries including electromechanical engineering, international trade.

Prof Hu is a Deputy of the 12th, 13th & 14th National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, Co-Chairperson of the Board of Governors of City University of Hong Kong Foundation, Life Honorary Chairman of The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong, Founding President of Hong Kong Shanxi Union Community, Past President of Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association, President of Hong Kong, China Veterans’ Tennis Association and Honorary Vice President of Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, and Independent Non-Executive Director of i-CABLE Communications Limited.

He is actively engaging in initiatives related to education, youth development and sports. He had also been appointed by the government of the HKSAR to serve as Council Chairman of City University of Hong Kong on Nov 1, 2012 until Dec 31, 2017‌.  In 2000, Prof Hu was appointed by the HKSAR as Justice of the Peace. He was also awarded Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2011, Silver Bauhinia Star in 2017 and Gold Bauhinia Star in 2023. He was elected as Member of Hong Kong Election Committee in 2001, 2006 and 2011.
