Mr Joe LEE

Mr. Lee is a serial entrepreneur, technology entrepreneur and investor with experience in building, investing in and advising technology-enabled businesses, financial technology companies, consumer internet platforms and new-economy enterprises. His background spans entrepreneurship, corporate strategy, capital markets, technology adoption and cross-border business development, with a focus on helping Hong Kong companies capture opportunities across the Greater Bay Area, Asia and global markets.

Mr. Lee is a co-founder of Kuaidi Dache, formerly one of China’s leading smartphone-based taxi-hailing platforms. Kuaidi Dache merged with Didi Dache in 2015, marking an important milestone in the development of China’s mobile mobility industry. Through his involvement in Kuaidi Dache, Mr. Lee participated in the development of platform strategy, business model expansion and corporate growth during a formative period of China’s consumer internet and platform economy.

Mr. Lee currently serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Klover Insurance Technology. Klover focuses on online auto-insurance services and applies technology to improve insurance distribution, customer experience and operational efficiency, contributing to the digital transformation of traditional financial services. Beyond insurance technology, Mr. Lee is also actively involved in investment and business-building activities relating to technology-enabled business models, artificial intelligence-related opportunities, digital infrastructure, green infrastructure and listed-company value creation.

Mr. Lee has served as a director, adviser or investor to various technology, financial services and innovation-driven companies, providing strategic input in business growth, innovation strategy, corporate governance, risk management and capital formation. He believes that Hong Kong’s strengths as an international financial centre, professional-services hub and bridge between Mainland China and global markets provide a unique foundation for building a more competitive innovation ecosystem.

Mr. Lee received the InnoStars Award in 2018 in recognition of his contribution to technology innovation and entrepreneurship.
