Dr Silas YANG Siu-shun is a Chartered Accountant with more than 40 years of experience in the field of Auditing and Accounting. Dr Yang graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1978 and has served a number of positions for one of the “Big Four” auditing firms, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), including as the Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC Hong Kong, the Executive Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC China and Hong Kong, one of the five members of the Global Network Leadership Team of PwC and the PwC Asia Pacific Chairman. He retired from PwC in 2015. Dr Yang is currently serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director for Tencent Holdings Limited and Man Wah Holdings Limited. Dr Yang was an Independent Non-Executive Director of Xinyi Glass Holdings, and an Independent Non-Executive Director of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, up to 31 May 2024 and 8 August 2024 respectively.
Dr Yang has also been actively involved in the community. He is a Member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a Justice of the Peace in Hong Kong and an Honorary Steward of The Hong Kong Jockey Club. He has previously served as a Steward of The Hong Kong Jockey Club up to 29 August 2025, a Board Member and the Audit Committee Chairman of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (formerly known as Hang Seng Management College) up to 30 September 2018, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (formerly known as The Open University of Hong Kong) up to 19 June 2019, and a Member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority up to 31 August 2021.
Dr Yang is a Fellow Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Social Sciences, honoris causa from the Hong Kong Metropolitan University in November 2019.
