New Opportunities for Hong Kong Youth Entrepreneurship
The Hong Kong Coalition, Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF), and Hong Kong Cyberport co-organised the "Hong Kong Youth Entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area Forum" on 6 May. In-depth discussions were held with representatives from government departments, business leaders, representatives from innovation and entrepreneurial bases in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and Hong Kong entrepreneurs who have successfully established their businesses in the GBA, with a focus on issues such as entrepreneurial support policies, connectivity of industrial resources, and market development strategies within the area.
Kenny Shui, Vice President of OHKF and Executive Director of Public Policy Institute, hosted the session to explore the new opportunities for Hong Kong youth entrepreneurs with the guests on stage.
Andy Yip, Co-founder and CEO of Gungho Space, opined that the youth entrepreneurs should settle in Hong Kong and collaborate with large corporations to seize great business opportunities.
Ricky Choi, Director of Smart Living of Cyberport, regarded Hong Kong as a nice place for proof of concept and a springboard for the business expansion of the youth entrepreneurs.
Lawrence Shum, Advisor of OHKF, and Chairman of New Navigator Group Limited, noted the significant profits generated by the youth entrepreneurs in major cities with high population densities, provided that their products and services meet customer expectations.
Jason Choi, Director of Sunwah Group and President of Sunwah GBA, and Vice Chairman of Guangdong-HK-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance, remarked that entrepreneurship is not always about high-tech industries. He recommended the youth entrepreneurs delve into intellectualisation and transformation of traditional industries.
