The Hong Kong Coalition, Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF), and Hong Kong Cyberport co-organised the "Hong Kong Youth Entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area Forum" on 6 May. In-depth discussions were held with representatives from government departments, business leaders, representatives from innovation and entrepreneurial bases in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and Hong Kong entrepreneurs who have successfully established their businesses in the GBA, with a focus on issues such as entrepreneurial support policies, connectivity of industrial resources, and market development strategies within the area.

At the forum, Victor Kwok, Deputy Research Director of OHKF, explained the previously published policy research report, “The Study on Hong Kong Youth Entrepreneurship Bases in the Greater Bay Area“ （The Study).

The study recommends that the government take a central coordinating role—led by the Human Resources and Social Security Department (HRSSD) of Guangdong Province, in collaboration with the Department of Finance of Guangdong Province and the Guangdong Provincial Public Resource Trading Center—to create a dedicated matchmaking platform for start-ups in entrepreneurial bases. This platform would pair start-ups’ products with the procurement needs of public and private organisations.

It also suggests building an online display platform, under the coordination of the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, to showcase the products of the incubatees within the “Alliance of Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurial Bases in the Greater Bay Area” and enhance Hong Kong youth start-ups’ visibility to enterprises and investors from both regions.
