Jason Leung: A Harvest Phase in Public Housing Completions Is Forthcoming

28 Apr 2025 (Mon)

Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) launched its latest annual housing landscape navigator report on 24 April. Besides conducting its exclusive housing supply forecast, it will steer the public through these challenges, putting them into perspective by providing factual and data-based analysis.

Jason Leung, Head of Land & Housing of OHKF, mentioned that benefiting from a strong rebound in the completion of subsidised housing, the actual completions of Public Rental Housing (PRH) units saw a significant increase compared to the previous fiscal year. Over the next five years, the average annual PRH completion (excluding Light Public Housing) is projected to reach 32,100 units, it has met the LTHS’s annual target of 30,800 units, indicating an improvement as the problem of back-loaded public housing supply gradually eases.

He pointed out that, even considering delays in site delivery and construction, projected completions are still on track to exceed the LTHS target by 7% to 31%, showing that a harvest phase in public housing completions is forthcoming.
