【PPI know it】2-Minute Info You Should Know: Breaking Boundaries for a Mega Events Capital

22 Sep 2025 (Mon)

Did you know? The 15th National Game will be held on November, major sports events are surging in succession.

Did you know? Even with the Kai Tak Sports Park has begun operations, Hong Kong still faces venue shortage challenges?

The Public Policy Institute under Our Hong Kong Foundation has released a research report titled “Breaking Boundaries to Develop Hong Kong into a Mega Sports Events Capital.”

The report puts forward a total of 22 policy recommendations across six key aspects to promote the comprehensive development of the sports industry through mega sports events: developing industry data, active bidding and planning of sports events, enhancing sports infrastructure, promoting sportainment, encouraging public and private funding, and nurturing industry talent. Through the concerted efforts of the Government, industry and societal sectors, Hong Kong must overcome existing limitations and truly realise the vision of becoming the “mega sports events capital”.
