“The InnoStars Awards” Opens for Nomination Recognising Leaders and Promoting Innovation for Hong Kong

25 Jan 2018 (Thu)

(24 January 2018, Hong Kong) – Innovation economics has become the driving force that shapes our future in today’s world, and whoever takes the driver’s seat in innovation will have the ability to drive our destiny. The success of Hong Kong owes a great deal to the continued transformation powered by the innovative ideas of Hong Kong people. To encourage the city’s new generation to continue the innovation journey started by their forebearers, Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) is proud to organise “The InnoStars Award” (The award), where innovative entrepreneurs will be recognized. In addition, the award will encourage the younger generation to think, innovate and flourish globally.

The award honours Hong Kong permanent residents for their outstanding innovative achievements in the field of science and technology, business operation or product and service. Since its founding, OHKF has been working tirelessly to promote creativity and innovation in Hong Kong. Dr. Victor Fung, Chairman of the judging panel, said, “The InnoStars Award recognizes up-and-coming creative entrepreneurial leaders. Apart from affirming the efforts and promoting continued innovation of these leaders, these recognitions also inspire the wider community to strive for continuous innovation.”

The award is organised by OHKF in collaboration with The Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Institution of Science and Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences. Supporting organisations include Innovation and Technology Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government and Education, Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR. The strategic partners are Cyberport, Hong Kong Science Park, Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong and Federation of Hong Kong Industries. Hong Kong X Foundation is the sponsor for the award presentation event.

The award’s judging panel consists of reputed community leaders, including the Chairman of the judging panel Dr. Victor Fung, Prof. Tsui Lap-Chee, Member of the Executive Council Mrs. Fanny Law, Dr. George Lam, Mr. Neil Shen, Prof. Tony F Chan, Ir Dr. Andrew Chan, Dr. Frank Tong and Mr. Y.K. Pang.

Mrs. Eva Cheng, OHKF Executive Director, concluded “We announced the launch of the InnoStars Award at ‘InnoTech Expo 2017’ last September. After several months of planning, and with the support from like-minded community leaders, Hong Kong will see the recognition of its innovative leaders for the first time ever. The award also symbolizes the continuation and passing down of the spirit of innovation and creativity from one generation to the next. More importantly, we want to encourage the next generation to look beyond Hong Kong and thrive on the global stage.”

Nominations for the award will be accepted from today until 22 February 2018, and the final results will be announced at the award presentation event on 21 March 2018. For further details, please visit www.ourhkfoundation.org.hk/en/innostars.
