OHKF Vice President Ryan Ip shared his views on Government announcing quarterly land sale programme for Jan to Mar 2025 on RTHK's programme

8 Jan 2025 (Wed)

Ryan Ip, Vice President of Our Hong Kong Foundation cum Executive Director of Public Policy Institute, was interviewed by RTHK to share his views on Government announces quarterly land sale programme for January to March 2025.

Ryan noted there's an expectation that land sales revenue may rise to around $7-8 billion in the next quarter, it remains far below initial estimates and previous performance, which he describes as unexpected and unsatisfactory. To enhance land sales revenue and improve market sentiment, the government needs to consider strategies for boosting interest among developers.

He suggests offering smaller sites to reduce developer risk, enhancing infrastructure to attract interest, lowering obligations and costs associated with land sales, and exploring more flexible financial arrangements like installment payments.
