Assistant Private Secretary of the Minister for Welfare Delivery in the UK visits OHKF

UK and Hong Kong both are facing similar challenges in land and housing aspects. On 16 February 2017, Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) received the Assistant Private Secretary of the Minister for Welfare Delivery in the UK. We had a deep and meaningful discussion exchanging views and experiences.

On behalf of OHKF, Mr Stephen Wong, Deputy Executive Director and Head of Public Policy Institute ( PPI ) , and colleagues of PPI welcomed Ms Saima Tarapdar, the Assistant Private Secretary of the Minister for Welfare Delivery in the UK. Researcher of OHKF gave an overview of land and housing supply situation and policies in Hong Kong. Mr Stephen Wong then explained OHKF’s views and recommendations, particularly build up land reserves and accelerate the current vetting procedures on land use approval. The visit is expected to deepen the understanding of public housing system of both UK and Hong Kong and to share the challenges faced in reforms.
