9 Apr 2026 (Thu)

On 9 April, President Dr Jane Lee, Vice President and Executive Director of the Public Policy Institute Kenny Shui, Vice President of Corporate Communications Joel Poon, Director of Institutional Development Amy Leung and Head of Green and Sustainability Pascal Siu hosted the Roundtable on Hong Kong development as an IFC. The session gathered key voices from the public and private sectors to inform a forthcoming policy paper OHKF will submit to the Government regarding Hong Kong’s first-ever Five-Year plan.

The roundtable invited key stakeholders such as Invest HK Global Head of Financial Services, Fintech & Sustainability King Leung, Welab Bank Chairman Prof. KC Chan, HKEX Head of OTC Platform Development Andy Ni and CEPU Expert Group Member Kevin Chan. Representatives from the private sector included Prudential, Asia Insurance, BoC Hong Kong, ANZ Bank, China Everbright Limited, etc.

Together, the group discussed strategies to advance RMB internationalization, strengthen our position as an International Asset and Wealth Management Centre, expand our capabilities as an International Risk Management Centre, and develop our Commodity Trading ecosystem. Ultimately, this initiative aims to strengthen Hong Kong’s role as an IFC, thereby contributing to the national strategic goal of accelerating China’s development as a financial powerhouse.
