18 Jun 2025 (Wed)

Ryan Ip, Vice President of Our Hong Kong Foundation and Executive Director of Public Policy Institute, kindly accepted an invitation to serve as a specialist advisor to the Alliance of Silver Economy Development. On 17 June, he signed a memorandum of understanding with the Alliance and attended the silver economy roundtable conference.

Ryan highlighted age-friendly living environment as a key focus in the discussion of silver economy. He advocated the incorporation of age-friendly building design standards into legislation and the provision of incentives to encourage the adoption of the design by the industry.

He advised various sectors on the development of “senior+” business models. He mentioned that the financial and insurance sectors could introduce more silver economic products to secure the post-retirement life of seniors, and thus enhancing their consumption power and facilitating the development of silver economy.

Guest in attendance included Cheuk Wing-hing, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, Ho Kai-ming, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Chan Hok-fung, Rev. Canon Peter Douglas Koon Ho-ming, Li Sai-wing, and Chan Pui-leung, who are Members of the Legislative Council of HKSAR, and Chan Man-yee, Chief Executive of HKCSS.
