Located in central Tibet, the Namtso is Tibet's second largest lake and China's third largest salt-water lake. Namtso in the Tibetan language means "heavenly lake", meaning it is sacred. On certain dates, Tibetan Buddhists spend two weeks walking a complete loop around the lake. Over the years, Namtso has made a significant contribution to tourism, the environment and even conservation.
