Dr. Maggie KOONG, BBS, JP

Dr. Maggie Koong is a seasoned educator and a registered primary school teacher in the United States. Dr. Koong received her Master of Education from the University of Hong Kong and Doctor of Education from Durham University, UK. With a notable academic background and extensive international network, she is a proclaimed veteran school leader and administrator. Dr. Koong has been leading Victoria for over 30 years and has established over 20 kindergartens, a primary school and secondary school in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Dr. Koong is the Chief Principal of Causeway Bay Victoria Kindergarten and Victoria (China) Education Group, and the Co-Founder and Head of Academy of Victoria Shanghai Academy. She also serves on the Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Koong is the incumbent World President of the World Organization for Early Childhood Education (OMEP), an organisation with members from over 70 countries/regions. To continue her work with OMEP, she is currently serving as President of OMEP Hong Kong. Furthermore, she has been invited to undertake the role as consultant for numerous projects for UNESCO, UNICEF and other organisations.

Since 2008, Dr. Koong has been a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee, and in 2019 she was appointed as a member on the Standing Committee.

In recognition of Dr. Koong’s contribution to the public service she was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star, and appointed Non-official Justice of Peace (JP) by the HKSAR Government
