Ms. Scarlett Oi-Lan PONG, BBS, JP
Ms. PONG Scarlett Oi Lan, BBS, JP received her Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy in Canada, the Harvard Business School Program for Global Leadership in the USA and Master of Arts in Australia. She is an Advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation and the Federation of the Handicapped Youth. She is also the Board of Trustees for New Era Trust initiated by the Honorable Leung Chun-ying and Honorary Professor of Hong Kong Nang Yan College of Higher Education, She is now serving as a HK Representative of All-China Women’s Federation in China , an Election Committee Member; a Member of the Building Committee, Housing Authority, the Committee on Promotion of Organ Donation. She is the former president of the Pharmaceutical Society of HK. She was elected as a District Councillor for 12 years and former chairman of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons’ Association.
She has been working closely with the WHO on Healthy Cities and was the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Alliance for Healthy Cities (AFHC) with over 220 city members from the Western Pacific Region. She was also the organizing chairman of the Global Conference of the AFHC in 2014 and 2021. She is currently the Vice Chairman of the Alliance for Healthy Cities, China Hong Kong Chapter.
Over the years, Ms. PONG has been appointed by the Government in various Advisory and Statutory Bodies. She was a Board Member of the Hospital Authority; a Member of the Health and Medical Development Advisory Committee, the Dental Sub-committee, the Chiropractors Council, the Council on Smoking and Health, the Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases and the Committee on Trust Fund for SARS. She was the Chairman of the Action Committee Against Narcotics Sub-committee on Preventive Education & Publicity.
She was a part-time member of the Central Policy Unit, the Council Member of the Baptist University and Vice Chairman of the Campus Development and Facilities Management Committee; a Member of the Grantham Scholarships Fund Committee, the Commission on Youth, the Committee on Services for Youth at Risk, the Business Facilitation Advisory Committee, the Assessment Panel of the Innovation and Technology Fund, the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, the Women’s Commission and Convenor of the Collaboration and Promotion Working Group.
She has published more than ten books which covered on drug education, investment, MPF, parent child relationship and examination skills. In 2003, CE Tung Che Hwa invited the China first astronaut Yang Liwei to come to HK and she was in charge of the promotion, media and the live show in HK Stadium with over 40,000 participants. She has directed an anti-drug movie which was awarded in the Golden Horse Award, Taiwan.
She was an awardee of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award and China 100 Outstanding Women Entrepreneur Award. She was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 2010 and was awarded a Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2016. She has also won the Award for Pioneers in Healthy Cities, AFHC.
