    Nominations of Innovation Leaders Open

(19 September 2021, Hong Kong)  The InnoStars Award 2021 organised by Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) is now open for nominations. The Award serves to inspire creativity and innovation, promote entrepreneurship, foster economic diversification, and showcase Hong Kong people’s innovative talent.

The judging panel comprises respected leaders with high credibility from the technology and business sectors to select distinguished Hong Kong people who innovate their way to excellence in science and technology, business model, social innovation, or culture and creativity.

The open nominations, which close on Monday, 25 October 2021, will be followed by vetting and shortlisting, and final judging. The Award is supported by the Department of Education, Scientific & Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, and the Innovation and Technology Bureau of the HKSAR Government. Major technology organisations, trade associations, and community groups in Hong Kong are invited to be the strategic partners of the programme as well.

Group Chairman of Fung Group Dr Victor Fung will continue to chair the judging panel this year. He notes that amidst emerging challenges and opportunities, Hong Kong needs constant innovation to drive its economic and social development.

“Hong Kong ranked 11th in the Global Innovation Index 2020, the highest since 2016. This shows that Hong Kong has a superior innovation environment. The InnoStars Award aims to recognise Hong Kong leaders’ contribution across Hong Kong, mainland China, and overseas, and to inspire creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship to bring continuous impetus to Hong Kong’s development.”

OHKF President Mrs Eva Cheng calls for active nominations from different sectors, so as to encourage innovations and cultivate an innovative talent pool for Hong Kong. “The National 14th Five-Year Plan supports Hong Kong to develop into an international innovation and technology hub. Hong Kong should seize the exciting opportunities offered by the Mainland to promote innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.”
Founding President of The Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong Professor
Lap-chee Tsui will chair the vetting committee comprising members from different sectors to review the nominees’ accomplishments in products, services, business models or technology. The vetting will be based on their uniqueness and impact of creativity and innovation, commercial performance, potential and scalability and other criteria, as well as scored on their personal success stories and contribution to society.

The previous editions of InnoStars Award held in 2018 and 2019 have received wide acclaims with 12 winners receiving the honours.
